General Information:

The WRAIR Clinical Trials Center (CTC) is located on the Walter Reed Forest Glen Annex in Silver Spring, MD, which is a military installation. You MUST have a valid U.S. government or state issued photo identification, such as a driver's license or military ID, in order to gain access onto base. Foreign passports/IDs will not be accepted. When you enter building 503, you must check in at the front desk, and inform them that you are going to the CTC.

Driving Directions:

Please have your driver's license, vehicle registration and insurance card readily available upon entering the gate.
  • From Washington DC, Southern Virginia or areas south/west:
    From I-495 North

    Take Exit 31B to merge onto MD-97/Georgia Avenue toward Silver Spring. Turn right at the 2nd stoplight onto Seminary Road (NOT on Seminary Place, which is the 1st stoplight). Once on Seminary Road, go straight through the next stop light (at Second Avenue) and then veer to the left, continuing down Brookville Road and over the Railroad Bridge. You will see the entrance to the Forest Glen Annex on your right. Proceed through the gate onto Stephen Sitter Avenue. You will come to a 4-way stop. Building 503 is located on your right along Robert Grant Avenue. The parking lot is located on your left behind the bus stop.

  • From Baltimore or areas north/east:
    From I-95 South

    Take exit 27 for I-495 W toward Silver Spring. Take Exit 31 for MD-97/Georgia Avenue toward Silver Spring/Wheaton. Keep left at the fork, following signs for MD-97S/Georgia Ave. At the 3rd stoplight, turn right onto Seminary Road (NOT Seminary Place). Once on Seminary Road, go straight through the next stop light (at Second Avenue) and then veer to the left, continuing down Brookville Road and over the Railroad Bridge. You will see the entrance to the Forest Glen Annex on your right. Proceed through the gate onto Stephen Sitter Avenue. You will come to a 4-way stop. Building 503 is located on your right along Robert Grant Avenue. The parking lot is located on your left behind the bus stop.

Free parking is available on the Forest Glen Annex.

Public Transportation:

  • Montgomery County Ride On:

    Information: Dial 311 inside Montgomery County or 240-777-0311 from anywhere outside of Montgomery County.

From the Silver Spring Metro Station:

Take the RIDE ON Bus #2 towards the Brookville Ride On Operations Center.

Departures from 6:34am to 8:59am will stop at the Forest Glen Annex.

If this is your first time visiting our facility and you DO NOT have a U.S. military ID, DOD ID or CAC, you MUST go to building 605 to get a visitor's pass upon exiting the bus. The security guard that checks your ID can direct you to building 605. PLEASE BRING THE VISITOR'S PASS WITH YOU TO THE CTC. Once you exit building 605 with your visitor pass, proceed across the parking lot, cross the street at the crosswalk and turn right onto the sidewalk. The first building on your left will be building 503.

If you have a U.S. military ID, DOD ID, CAC, or were previously issued a visitor pass or ID card from building 605, then you DO NOT need to go to building 605. Proceed directly to building 503.

Departures before 6:34am and after 9:00am WILL NOT stop at the Forest Glen Annex.

You will need to exit the bus at the corner of Brookville Road & Lyttonsville Place (just before the Ride-On Operations Center). Then you will need to walk up Brookville Road towards the flashing yellow light and cross the street to enter the gate at the Forest Glen Annex.
